New Zealand Agricultural Aviation Association Executive Officer Tony Michelle featured on RNZ Rural News today, discussing the safety hazards for agricultural aircraft on the newest technology for farmers, halter towers.
Some farmers are investing in new age ‘electronic collars’ to manage their cattle herds – this includes dairy and hill country farmers.
A tower (or multiple towers in some cases) are used to send data between the collars and farmers app . These towers range between 7 and 10 meters.
Pilots – ask farmers whether they use electronic collars and if so, do they have any towers.
Farmers – make sure you make pilots aware of all the hazards they may encounter low-level.
